Russell Brand "quit" the BBC today. I'm totally pissed off at the BBC for using him as a scapegoat and all the attention whores (i.e. Georgina Sachs) who brought this about.

Watch his resignation video here.

Dear Russell and Jonathon,

Fuck the BBC! Do whatever the hell you want! You both make enough money to produce your own shit. Don't let them make money off of you and use you as a scapegoat for their own failings.

For Christmas I want NOTHING! Not a sweater! Not a card! Not a twinkle in your eye! But if you were going to get me something like that anyway (say a $2 card) I beg of you to donate that money to my pay pal account as I am scrounging as much as I can to save for my Christmas trip. For example, if everyone in the Amanda Stanley Appreciation Group on Facebook donates $10 it will pay for all my accommodation and food.

Sometimes when I'm very tired and have been studying all night and feel sick and homesick for old things and new things and I'm completely alone and need a perfect person to tell me the perfect thing to make me feel special and loved I turn to my old friend.

Another rant post. I don't mean to complain. I just calls em like I sees em.

Note: This entry excuses people who voted or who discuss Canadian politics as much as they discuss American politics.

All my Canadian friends seem to be talking about the American election. It's all OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA! but they didn't make an effing NOISE about our elections and Canadian candidates. We had a record LOW of voting this election. Our last voting peak was in NINETEEN FIFTY-EIGHT! (Courtesy of Dief the Cheif).

"Some 59.1 percent of eligible Canadian voters went to the polls Tuesday, breaking the previous record low turnout of just under 61 percent in 2004, according to preliminary results from Elections Canada released on Wednesday."

Good fucking job.

Before you get your panties wet for some American candidate, try being a responsible citizen in your own damn country first. Move there if you love him so much.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/081015/canada/canada_us_election_turnout

P.S. I think Obama may actually be Harold Saxon. Not that I want McCain to win, but that's exactly what Saxon would want.
I enjoy watching Family Guy as much as the next person, but occasionally it actually truly bothers me. Mainly when they make jokes about violence against women.

I watched the first few episodes of the new season and I'm so not impressed. Two jokes in particular really stick in my mind. One was a Dr. Seuss parody "Horton Hears Domestic Violence in the Next Apartment" where we graphically hear a woman being beaten and her sobbing and crying and begging for someone to help her and god knows what else in the next apartment. It was hard to watch. Not like Meet the Parents was hard to watch. It was hard to watch like watching orphans of war is hard to watch.

The other one involves Peter trying to get the waiter to give him a record in exchange for sex with his daughter.

Peter: Can I have that record? I love that song. I'll let you have sex with my daughter...

Waiter: I don't know...let's see what your daughter looks like.

P: She's...uhh...(pans past Meg to "hot" girl)...right there!

W: Ok, I'll do her. But can you tell her to cry and beg me to stop?

P: I think that can be arranged.

Please don't tell me to have a sense of humour about this. Think of three girls you know. One of them has been sexually assaulted. So not funny.

I thought I wanted the time to go by faster. This was stupid because I have SO MUCH LIFE TO LIVE in 6 months!

My list of things to do before summer!
  • go horseback riding! (before it snows hopefully)
  • go to the movies at least every other month!
  • skate on the Rideau Canal
  • take a free gym class (tae cardio, total body conditioning)
  • buy a second hand bike (for under $50)
  • MAKE not BUY Christmas gifts for everyone I love (well, I can buy craft supplies)
  • go to at least 2 concerts
  • visit Picton for a weekend
  • clean my apartment (I mean REALLY clean! scrub the floors and walls! clean under all the furniture! clean out the cupboards! etc... p.s. I might need help for this one)
  • make sushi
  • have a nice hot bubble bath (at the hostel probably! haha)
This isn't like my vow of celibacy, I'm really going to do it! (Oh god, that quote will come back to haunt me.)
The worst is over. Got through first night alone with flying colours. For some reason, I was sicker today than yesterday, but at least I slept at a decent hour and woke up at a decent time so today will be easy to fall asleep.

Somehow my antenna is getting more channels than usual but I can't find Jon Stewart, I found Arrested Development however, which is really just as good. I can hulu Jon Stewart later.

In kitty cat news, Boris used to get um... "excited" at night when I first got him and he often would hump random things like pillows and socks and my leg... well he has randomly started doing it again. As soon as my sinus headache doesn't cause me to snap at the drop of a hat, I will clean the entire apartment and make everything nice and cozy for him.

My apartment is a complete disaster area right now and I hate it. I'm not truly comfortable anywhere in it. I think that this is also partly due to the fact that I have completely outgrown this little place. It was a wonderful first apartment and we've grown a lot in it. But I'm running out of room on my bookshelves and I feel like I'm always bumping into things. I have no place to store winter things in the summer or summer things in the winter. This spring will bring a much needed change in my evolution.

I'm going to sleep now. It's almost 1am which makes me sleepy. I'm afraid of waking up to Boris humping my foot.

He's leaving for Norway for six months. I will see him at Christmas. I can't handle thinking about it. It's so silly, I would make fun of someone else for being like this, but it's true and I can't pretend I'm not effing devastated.

Why are gifs so addicting to watch?

This is just about the best thing ever.

Now I shall watch ALL TV ALL THE TIME!

Also, does anyone know how to fix old timey desktops (JON?)? Meredith's computer is broken beyond my knowledge and she can't afford to get a technician in to fix it. This is quite upsetting.

I am a very stylish girl 20!

My birthday AND Christmas present is my bed so that's what I got from my parents. Plus they paid for not one but FOUR meals for me and my handlers which is pretty awesome. We also went to the Museum of Civilization and the art gallery and the IMAX.

We are the MYSTIC ELEMENTS!

I look like a cow slightly.

Oh Annie.

We met Tom Green who was eating next to us with his Dad and brother which was nice, except Joel get star struck really easily and may have startled Tom Green a little. Luckily they are both from North Bay and their dad's both work for the military. He didn't smear us with poo or anything, so that was a plus.

Tonight Joelio and I went to Tucker's Marketplace for my free buffet which was EXCELLENT. I had to be rolled home like a big fat blueberry child.

I just had a highly hilarious conversation with Alysson.

Alysson says:
also one is a butter face
||Amanda|| says:
what is butter face?
Alysson says:
everything's hott but her face
||Amanda|| says:
ahahah

Today Joel made french toast but put a little drop of vanilla into the egg/milk mixture and I almost fainted from sensual pleasure. It was wonderful.

Meredith got me a cake today which we will eat TOMORROW.

P.S. I wish there was something that could show you what livejournal mood you used most often.

I slept in. Boo. At least I got an extra hour and a half of sleep this morning so I'm in a really good mood. And also, my work gave me a birthday card which is exciting. Everyone from work signed it will funny little messages.

Rey Jr. said: "Happy Barfday".... -_-

I will post later as boredom consumes me. The family is here in 4 hours approx.

Joel and I went to the used bookstore tucked away next to the Bytowne last night. It was an excellent hole in the wall place. I bought John Hodgeman's "The Area of my Expertise" which I'm about to start reading now.

LOVE YOU ALL MY SAUCY POO PANS!

Boo, I'm working hard at school (reading mainly... lots and lots of reading). My boyfriend is in Winnipeg for a few days training for his crazy U.N. mission.

:(

A woman drowned on Sunday afternoon, after her motorized wheelchair fell into the Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa.

Police and paramedics were called to the Colonel By Drive near the Laurier Avenue Bridge just after 1 p.m. Five officers jumped into the canal and pulled the woman from the water. The woman was under the water for nearly 10 minutes and had no signs of breathing or a pulse. She was taken to the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

"thought the video awards were total crap last night, except for your British boyfriend who was brilliant, but not very appreciated by the strange American mix of white bread + rap kids. Kenya West was good though, liked the new song, otherwise it was crap."

Oh Mom! I love Kenya West too!!
Oh Russell. I'm so proud. haha.

Review

I watched the first five minutes and then couldn't handle it anymore. The staggering power of the Jonai overpowered me and I had to go onto the roof with Joel where he was "not smoking" and enjoying the cool after-rain atmosphere of our world.

This picture blows my mind however:

He looks so chastened. He's having one of those: "What if I just GRABBED HER BOOB" moments in his head. Or maybe singing the coco pops song. His giantness scares me, because Paris Hilton is tall PLUS wearing heels. When I met him he was a good 6'4 or 6'5 in heels. I'd also like to point out that he was wearing those exact jeans with the side zip... that penis bulge in those jeans has RUBBED AGAINST ME IN A SUGGESTIVE WAY!

Omg I love him.

I'm working a day shift right now. Yes. I'm at work. At 7:30 in the morning. I haven't worked this shift in 4 months and I'm not 100% sure what to do. It's horrifying. Joel is coming to have lunch with me though so that's nice. And I'm going to try to get out of here a little early so I can get to class on time.

I'm so tired I'm awake. Is that weird?

Here are some lovely camping pictures. It was a nice week. I wish I could have had more time to relax and read, etc, but that didn't really happen.

Boobs? Sun? How glamorous.

An LCBO and graveyard... classy!

I should add that I'm standing on top of a cliff... It's very daring.

He's wearing a purse... in the wilderness. He's THAT secure in his manliness.

1. Boxers or briefs? Illustrate your point with an MS Paint drawing.

2. If you could be a man for a day, what would be the first thing you'd do?
Experience all the things the penis has to offer. Peeing standing up, sense of entitlement, vaginas... the whole shebang.

3. Name 8 inanimate objects within view of where you're sitting, and assign them sexes.
  1. Phone: Male... it has a little erect antenna.
  2. USB Port: Female- self explanatory
  3. USB Drive: Male- it's entering the USB port....
  4. Empty plastic lightbulb casings: female- look like breasts
  5. Large plastic water bottle: could be a barrel chested man
  6. Pens and pencils- very slim and girlish
  7. Post It Pad- couldn't think of a sex until I drew eyelashes and lips on it
  8. Bottle of acetone free nail polish remover: female- small waist bottle, pear shaped bottom.
4. What accents would Boris and Olivia have if they were human?
Boris and Olivia are Russian spy cats. THEY HAIL FROM RUSSIA! *mad cossack dancing*

Cheers my mini wonton dumplings!

Everything went well. I had a wonderful weekend. Family liked the boy. Boy liked the family. My mom took a lot of creepy paparazzi type photos and said stuff like: "You'll thank me later!" Pictures like this:

I could do without the world facebook staring at my partially naked body.

We went sailing. It was pretty awesome. Except all day at work I felt like I was on a rocking sailboat and had to grip tightly to the desk to keep from toppling. (P.S. Look at his muscles... mmm)

Joel was the only one of us to catch a fish but my dad had to take it off the hook for him. Also, it was TINY. hahah that's what she said. It took me forever to work up the courage to jump off the boat. I had to wear a life jacket and keep my feet near the surface for fear of toe nibbling mega-sharks or something. Joel was afraid of cold water not fish... so he says. He did a very well formed dive from the boat but when he surfaced he made the sound of a posh bear being stabbed by a chav bear.

Anyway coming home on Sunday was horrifying. There was an accident on the 401 and it took us 3 and a half freakin hours to get to Kingston. We missed our train and had to catch a later one. As a result I slept NOT A WINK and worked all night. I had about 4 redbulls over the course of 8 hours. When I got home my body was buzzing and I had to take gravol because I was feeling sick from the sailboat feeling. My ears were ringing from people setting off alarms at work. I laid in bed and just reeled.

The thoughts that keep me going through a rough night shift...

(Dear GOD! Click the cupcake!)

Look up cupcake recipes and then drool about them. It's how I imagine men look at pornography. My mouth just hangs open and I stare. I dream about eating them and how they taste/feel... I imagine Nigella baking them for me...

I should probably go do work now. I'm drifting away.

Because I know my mom loves juicy gossip.... I'm off the market. To show this in blog format, I will post a youtube link.

In other news, somebody at the hostel was just telling me that his friend is really good friends with the girls of Robots in Disguise and he was telling me about how drug fueled RiD and the Mighty Boosh are. I knew they weren't exactly beautiful rose petals of innocence, but it still breaks my heart a little. It's also always a little strange when someone says: "You don't know who they are but The Mighty Boosh are like my favourite comedy pairing!"

Boo my throat hurts so much. Why does my body hate me???

Hello my hushpuppies!

Life has been quite busy since all the Russell rhubarb. He mentioned Meredith on his show but never got back to her. It was very sad. "MEREDITH! Now is NOT the time for NANECDOTES!"

I'm planning a wee vacation to Prince Edward County in mid August and then I'm camping for a week at the end of August. All in all, not a lot of work going on, haha. I've been working pretty hard this summer though, so it will be nice to get some relatively free vacation. I really can't wait to get to the Sandbanks and dig my toesies in the soft sand.

Working on the computer is making my shoulders hurt a bit. Boo-Urns.

Firstly, can I just say that I am a very happy happy woman. We met Russell Brand after his fantabulous gig (my throat was hoarse from laughing) and he was so genuine and caring and sweet afterwards. He gave both Meredith and I a good kissy and cuddle. And we chatted and he warned us about his "spores" getting us pregnant and stuff. I said I was pretty much a mini-Russell and he was like: Ooo you little pervert! *wink wink* And his gigantic penis bulge was rubbing against my leg as we were talking. He was also huge in general. Very very tall and very very broad. With his boots on he had to be a good 6'4. Everything about it was amazing. He signed my Booky Wook which now reads "Russell Brand <3's Amanda! xoooo!" His manager kept going like: Russell we have to go! and he kept hanging out until they whisked him away in a van. *le sigh.* I'd like to think I'd still be there with him now if it wasn't for mean old Nick!

We also met Matt Stone from South Park, Hal Sparks from Queer as Folk, and Seth Rogen from ... every Judd Apatow film. Cupcakes were involved. I wanted to sing "I'm Fucking Seth Rogen" but I didn't...

We also saw Old Montreal and the Musee des Beaux Arts and we saw a live band at the Divan Orange (which was a little strange and we may have been drugged there) but all in all it was nice.

We had a lot of drivers with a death wish. I got two new pairs of shoes. We saw Dark Night which was amazing. Brilliant. Dumbledore kills Batman with a harpoon.
Ms. Lee
I don't know who to ask about this but "communications" seemed pretty good. Maybe you can point me in the right direction. I'm going to the Russell Brand show tomorrow night and I'm a HUGE fan. I have his book and was wondering if there was anywhere he'd be signing autographs after/before his show. Who knows when he'll be in Canada next and my roommate and I are travelling from Ottawa to see him.

Thanks for any advice you can give or an email of anyone I can ask.

Today is Annie's sweet 16. Pretty sweet kid. I was so different when I was 16. It bothers me that she is cooler than I was.

Last night I stayed in and watched Conan in my underpants and it was very peaceful. Then I listened to Russell Brand's new podcast for a glimmer of a mention of the Montreal Comedy Festival, which didn't happen. I wonder if Matt is coming with them? His Los Angeles girlfriend could come up for a visit. It'd be glorious. ha.

Montreal:
So we are leaving Ottawa around 9:30am on Thursday and coming home around 8:10 on Friday. In case anyone wanted to know our exact itinerary. I think the first day we will check out the Musee Beaux Arts and then go out to Russ's gig and then to a cafe or something. Then the next day we are going to check out Mont Royale and some of Old Montreal maybe. Naomi explained it all to me. There are two pages of scrawl about Montreal and all the cool things we could do.

In other news, I got this kick ass hair stuff my Aunt recommended to me. "Biosilk". My hair is luxurious and soft man.

I should point out that I have no air conditioning and it feels like 39C outside with humidex. I'm on the third floor. I have a ridiculous fan set up around my desk that puts me in a kind of windy zone.

1. What drink wakes you up best in the morning? Cold cold Iced tea!
2. During the day, what do you drink to keep going? Water. Lots and lots of it.
3. Do you drink the recommended 8 glasses of water per day? Why/why not? I never count but I probably don't. I try to drink a lot though.
4. What are the ingredients of your favorite mixed drink? (Doesn't have to be alcoholic!) I love margaritas!
5. Are you a coffee drinker? How do you take your coffee, if so? I don't like coffee so much. More of a tea person.

I'm back in Ottawa. My Canada day was awesome and even though my visit was busy it was nice. I didn't really get to hang out with Annie... it was really just her putting aloe vera on my scorched back.

I also have a ridiculous sunburn from Canada Day. Ridiculous. It's just started peeling today and I don't want to wear a tank top and gross out everyone but it's too damn hot to cover it up.

So I hung out with my family from Hungary at the beach. It was so nice and calming (by calming I mean CHAOS but it was still nice). My cousin Zoli has tons of pictures that I'm waiting for him to email to me, but I'll post them (yes you perverts, beachy bikini pictures).

On the date board this morning I drew lots of maple leafs and an RCMP mount. Yaay.

In other news, I'm dead tired. My night shift is done in 10 minutes. My train leaves in less than two hours. I think I look/smell/sound less than stellar. All my bones ache and I'm cold and totally forgot to bring a sweater of any kind (its going to be cold on the train.) I'm going to check and see if I brought anything long sleeved for the journey.

Last night Meredith hung out with me on night shift and we ordered some chicken and watched some Doctor Who and suprisingly as a result I got everything done very early and had time to investigate a lost iPod. By investigate I mean explore its contents, look up its serial number (in vain) and then wipe it completely... adding my own stuff of course. It was left without a cable, headphones, etc but luckily it's a nano too. I dont think anyone else has a nano. Anyway, it's been here for two weeks and nobody's touched it. Nobody has made a move to see what's on it, etc. As a result, I'm grifting that moFO.

I cleaned up the wishlist section. I got rid of stuff either I've gotten or don't really care much for anymore. I added one thing. Maybe if I have some spare time at some juncture I'll add more stuff.

Sometimes I read my horoscope just to pick out the flattering bits and go "Oooh, that's me!"

Because she is usually so attractive and charming, it is sometimes difficult for men to appreciate the talents and intellect of the typical Libra woman. In many ways she is the most feminine of the zodiacal types. It has been said that although she thinks like a man, she reasons like a woman. These women have a natural ability to make relationships work. Though self-sufficient, they are not happy alone and usually have a partner in their lives.

I swear it says that.

Tonight I'm going out with some gals from work for a birthday dinner and then afterward we are all going to the Orchestra. That being said I better get to sleep so I can be fresh faced and lovely. I have an extra ticket (no "plus one" sadly) but if someone wants to go the orchestra I have an extra ticket. It's at work though, so if you want to go I'd have to call them and see if it has been snatched up yet.

I have irresponsibly gotten my cats high. I got them a new cat bed (cleverly shaped like a sofa) and there was cat nip all over it. Boris cautiously sniffed it and then proceeded to get off his tits. Olivia licked the handles and stuff and rolled around next to it, but Boris went crazy licking and sucking on the fabric of it. They are all burnt out/exhausted now. I should probably fill their food dishes because they are likely in for some munchies. ha

I'm going on a secret getaway for Canada Day. I want to fall off the grid for a few days and just do nothing. Just some relaxation and peace and quiet. Chaos follows me like a lost puppy so I'm sure it won't be peaceful and quiet, but whatever. haha. It will be nice to be away from the chaos of Ottawa on Canada Day.

Also, I just remembered the time that I saw Jon at Lees and I texted hiim with "OMG I SAW YOU" and he was like: "I DIDN'T SEE YOU" and I was like: "I'VE DYED MY HAIR AND I'M WEARING SUNGLASSES AND A BIG HAT" and he was like: "ARE YOU IN DISGUISE?" it was funny... because it seemed that I was.

I ran some errands today. Bank. Post office. Pet Store. Opticians. All in all, it's been a rather productive day. Well, out of the house anyway. I need to clean my room and do laundry HXC. I may just chill and do the inside stuff tomorrow. It's too lovely out.

I have today and tomorrow off and most of Thursday so I have a lot of time to catch up on laundry, etc.

P.S. Sorry about the cat sofa picspam. I really am.
I was so not ready for George Carlin to go. He was only 71. Remember when he was Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station? I have nothing else to say.

I have so many spoilery opinions of the new Doctor Who episode and until I find a way to make a "lj cut" on blogger I can't share them with you.

I got this lovely dress today at the Gap. The Gap actually has the best sales of anyone in the whole world. It's convertible so it could be strapless or strappy. I don't know if I have any shoes I can wear. Oh I think I bought a pair when I worked at Reitmans that were like black and white. They'd probably look quite good. Though I'd rather find something similar to what the model is wearing.

It's also kind of see through. I'll have to experiment with underwear to find something that isn't visible under this dress. haha.

Yesterday, besides not quite getting enough sleep, was pretty good. Meredith and I went to the chicken and rib cook off and it was GLORIOUS! I can't describe how amazing my chicken sandwich was. I want to go back today SO BAD. The smell enough was enough to faint. We met up with Kate and Amanda, jokingly referring to it as a double date. (Kate and I are the husbands and Amanda and Meredith are our wives. haha)

Then we went to the Honest Lawyer where there was some pretty decent live music. It wasn't very busy. The bouncer was sooo nice. All cute and smiley. There was a really really really drunk girl dancing in front of the band trying to seduce them. It was so bad it was funny. She was like stumbling around groping herself. She really got up in the guy's personal bubble and he amazingly continued singing and playing guitar. Our waitress told us that she was just here alone and very very drunk. And apparently she tried to order another drink and her boobs just fell right out of her top onto the bar. Needless to say adorable bouncer was like: time to go lady. She fought a bit and did some scratching and biting and punching. The bartender just gently lifted her and took her out of the bar. Afterward, he came by to talk to us and was like: Omg? Do I need a tetanus shot!?? It was so cute. He wanted us to come back tonight but I have to work. Boo. We tipped majorly because the waitress and bouncer had to put up with that crazy woman while still serving us really well.

When I got home I noticed the picture of my grandmother and I on my dresser had fallen on the floor and the frame had popped open. In the frame there was $40 hidden!! Rejoice! I think I'm going to grab breakfast with it.

I got to work tonight and there was a $20 gift card waiting for me, thanking me for covering the night shift Saturday when somebody didn't come in. It feels so nice to be appreciated. I kind of thought it would slip by and nobody would notice because we are so busy.

I feel so sleepy on this nightshift but I'm not sure why. I slept a normal amount last night and then slept about 5 hours before this night shift. Just a little burnt out I guess.

I'll be on MSN all night so if you're bored MSN ME!

Time to fold sheets!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL
It's strange that your 20. And also that we had both Harry Potter and Regency themed birthday parties.

I think to myself: Omg, it must suck to be so old.... but then I remember we are the same age. Its going to kill me when I'm not longer in my teens. I will probably cry softly to myself.

Boo,
The girl who quit called in sick again today so Naomi has to work tonight and can't do First Aid with me tomorrow. I have to do it all on my lonesome. *cry cry*

Meredith and I went to the park to "read" (see: people watch). There were a group of runners warming up and they did lunges in unison, but not any normal lunge, a lunge-walk combo. It was like a crazy army of lungers. I can't stress enough how hilarious this was. I almost died laughing, it's good that I was about 150 yards away or I would have offended their lunging sensibilities.

Lungers, lungers! Why!?
You have to know you look dumb?
Just stretch normally!

Last night the girl working overnight called in sick and the girl with the day off wasn't answering her phone. I was switching to days so I had been awake for about 20 hours already. (With a few hours sleep here and there). Anyway, I was about to go to sleep when work called me and I was like: if you can work a few extra hours I can sleep for 4-5 hours and then come in and cover. What we ended up doing was me going there around 11pm and sleeping there, but putting up the houseparent sign in case of emergency. Then I woke up at 4am to do as much overnight stuff as I could. It was kind of hectic. But now I have another day off (re: today). Hm, what to do? Maybe a picnic? Nap at the park. Sounds nice.

Tomorrow I start my first aid certification. I'm afraid I'll suck at it. I'm totally going to slip the CPR dummy some tongue.

I was supposed to switch over but I fell asleep in the middle of the day and then I couldn't sleep all night. I will try not to sleep until tonight. (Unless I end up actually doing something fun, which I assume with exhaust me to the point of falling asleep anyway.)

I work at 10am tomorrow so hopefully I can switch over before then.

In other news this is what I've done in my hours sitting quietly in my room
  • made cd for my mom
  • trolled countless forums
  • downloaded and subsequently lip synched a great deal of Mama Cass
  • browsed EBay and other often frequented online shopping sites
  • played with cats
  • napped (briefly, for about an hour)
My life is so secure and boring right now. I want to do something crazy to shake it up. Not even crazy, just different. Not even different for regular society, but different for me.

Several alarming things to report. Firstly, Meredith and I watched the new Doctor Who which is about a swarm of creatures called the "Vashta Nerada" or something to that effect which live in shadows and prey upon anyone dumb enough to stumble into them. They travel in shadows and the dark...

The lights in the staircase of the hostel have gone out and the emergency back up lights went out as well. I've been running up and down the stairs all night from circuit box to circuit box trying to get some power. I'd like to point out that this hostel is creepy enough at night with all the lights on. In pitch black with only a crappy flashlight to find my way through cell blocks and corridors, it's totally freaky.

Secondly, our lobby bathroom is locked. From the inside. And I've banged on it and been all: HELLO! ARE YOU OKAY! And no answer. What the hell? I've been running around a lot so I haven't noticed anyone go in or out. Omg I'm thinking of Meredith's story from Loblaws where some crazy guy locked himself in the bathroom for days and smeared his poop everywhere.

Please. Please let there be no smeared hobo poop.

Tomorrow hopefully I'm going out with Sue and Meredith for lunchie and then going to doctor's at 2:30. Then Friday I have WHMIS training and then catching the VIA Train to Picton. Saturday is Alysson's lovely party and also the new Doctor Who and then Sunday morning I'm coming home, sleeping, and then working a night shift at 11pm.

Also, I EFFING LOVE my DS and all my gamey games and my little case for it. So cute.

I'm so tired so NIGHTY NIGHT.

Yo! Scary pencil!
Dear God! Please don't draw black holes!
I'll get sucked away!

I worked 9 hours and was so absolutely wiped at the end that it took me forever to count my cash. Several minutes were spent just staring at the cash not even thinking. It was raining and I was fallign asleep so I took a cab, stumbled up the stairs, showered and passed out cold. I woke up a little while ago and watched the new Doctor Who (which is all set in a library that takes up a WHOLE planet, Alysson! and the librarians are androids with donated faces!) I'm rather awake now so I'm all "gah nothing to do". I'm watching SNL until 4am and then I'm sure it will be hard to find any quality programming. Maybe I'll fall back asleep or listen to a podcast or something. I'm thinking about going out for breakfast but I don't know where (or which whom). I'm hoping Sue will maybe want to. I miss that gal.

I have something sad to report: When I moved all my Doctor Who (4 seasons) and Torwchood (2 seasons) they sort of messed up the files so they don't play properly. I now have to redownload ALL OF IT. I'm sort of depressed about that. Not cool. If anyone has any good mass download links, that would be life saving. Like one big torrent or something. So I don't have to download the individual episodes. :(

P.S. My mom is ADORABLE!

More bad news, I can't really go out and live my normal fun life anymore. If I get sick again I'm so in trouble. I hate being forced down- having to live a boring life. I want to go out and get my seratonin and adrenaline pumping... but it's ok, I'll just stay in and read or something. ><
I shouldn't complain. It will do me some good to sleep regularly and do normal things. I actually love reading! So I'm just in a bad mood from being sick. BOO-URNS

I have tonsilitus and haven't been able to go to work. I've had two days of horrific fever. It hurts my skin to touch anything. The first day of fever was HORRIFIC and I just thought I would die.

We are totally understaffed at work and I knew that they would be screwed if I got sick, but I can't exactly go to work when I'm dying. The doctor said today I can't work for 48 hours. I felt totally horrible about calling in sick. When I talked to my boss she made me feel less bad about it.

Awww.

I've uploaded tons of "back issue" posts. (Posts made before on my private journal, but didn't post here.) I have posts back until March, so READ UP!

Oh No. I've been so busy I haven't had time to manage both blogs. I'm trying to update some old back entries onto this journal, so there should be some newish entries soon.

Mmmmm,
I just washed some softy sheets and instead of just putting new sheets on my bed I dug into my linen trunk and pulled out all sorts of wacky patterns and colours (I was sick of always co-ordinating them). Meredith helped me put the pink plaid duvet cover on my duvet. I'm so excited to snuggle down into it, but I have to stay up rather late tonight so I can sleep all day and work night shift tomorrow night. I've just crawled into bed against my better judgement. It feels like a hot cup of tea... mmm maybe I need a hot cup of tea.

Who fancies a snuggle??

I have a lot of creams and lotions and potions on my bedside table. I like to moisturize before I sleep. Sue me.

I'll probably post later if I get bored or find a meme or something. I'm on msn and bored and up all night so IM ME!

P.S. I miss Alysson dearly. I wish she had good internet.

I can't sleep. Listening to a lot of Oasis and Morrissey. I feel like an angsty 16 year old boy but with big boobs.
Love listening to popular songs live when the audience sings the chorus. Hearing thousands of people sing something in unison is sort of awesome. Very energetic and lively. I feed off the sound of their excited little faces.

P.S. My crack voice makes another appearance. I tried to do a real face to cam blog with my laptop but the sound randomly didn't work so it's just 2 and a half minutes of me mutely talking and making animated facial expressions and picking up objects and talking about them.

P.S.S. Oasis = guilty pleasure douchebaggery. Noel Gallagher = grumpiest old man ever... he could be my DAD!
Speaking of people old enough to be my dad, random old (30+) men have been taking romantic interest in me lately. Unless they are actually cool or rich like Noel Gallagher, I'm not putting up with crotchety old men
"CAN I GET AN OM-LETTE!" (Annie and I love to say this with a Manchester accent. Don't ask.)

P.S.S.S. Reading about death makes me feel so alive.

I'm actually really glad it's rainy. I love rainy. It's just very foreboding as I go into an exam. Also, I'll have to sit for hours in wet jeans. Not cool. Hopefully I can be in and out rather quickly. (TWSS)

Also, I'm very expensive on Facebook.
BIG HUGS TO YALL!

P.S. I have crackvoice (TM) in my video but it's because I went out to that office party and we went to Minglewoods after and the company bought us a few rounds.... AND I DID CRACK and it was awesome.

First on the docket, much to Alysson's chagrin, I've dug out my old pink Havianas and bought a pair of board shorts to ring in summer. They are so light, and fluffy (the shorts) and the Havianas have been with me a few years (I got them in France, that's how old they are). I tried to find some classier replacements today but couldn't find anything that was open enough and comfy enough.

Secondly, I think my cats can drum. I was listening to the Fratellis and Olivia was beating up a Bay bag and it was sort of in time with the music. How sweet is that. My little Tommy Lee kitties.

Russell is starting to get all this publicity again for being a sex maniac/addict. I guess to promote his new movie. He is baffling american media:
"I met Christina Aguilera before she was pregnant," said Brand. "Although I was releasing a lot of spores that day, I don't think the baby's mine. I can't make any claims to it."

I was just rickrolled by the Doctor! Ahahaha.

Series 1 "Father's Day" when they are in the car driving to the wedding. What do I hear? You guessed it. lolz

Hello my friend! (Possibly the creepiest greeting ever.)

I've spent about an hour just ripping through my apartment looking for AA batteries to put in my camera. I feel like some kind of drug addict looking for... drugs. I used to be such a camera whore and my computer was full of pictures of me but my laptop's built in webcam is CRAAAAP and my real digital camera is CRAAAP (and is a glutton for the AAs... I don't mean the bra size! ba dum dum...). So anyway, I found five AAs and try them all and they are DEAD. I'm thinking about getting rechargeable ones because I use them so much. I know I worked in a hardware store and should know, but are they much more expensive? Because I'm dirt poor.

Today Meredith and I went to The Market and had lunch and cocktails and it was pleasant. Afterwards we went and got a little indoor herb growing kit for us to nurture this summer. THEN we went and split a small Tin Roof Blizzard. It was delicious. I also bought the new sims stuff pack because I'm also a junkie for that and there is a promotion on where if you buy two sims games you get one free and the sales associate was all: "PROMOTION!" and I whispered: "I have them all already." and he was like" Ahh...."

Sooo, later on I went and wrote my Witchcraft exam and I think I did very well. I feel quite confident and my professor gave me an encouraging wink when I handed it in. *le sigh*

For supper Meredith and I went to the Royal Oak for some cheap pub grub and patio loving. Crappy campus bars are starting to grow on me. How sad.

Tomorrow morning she has an exam at 9:30 and she, Alex, and I are going to Zak's afterwards for some breakfast/lunch. That means I have to wake up in like 6-7 hours. Ew. Worse for her I guess because she has to write an American Lit exam. I will be spending all day tomorrow studying for Fantasy Lit, which is at least interesting... some of it. I'm doing quite well in the course so if I don't do so well on the exam it's okay. It's alarming that I can do so well in a fantasy lit course without reading Lord of the Rings.

I suck painfully at being an adult.

The other day there was a fire in the building behind us and our whole block was blocked off. It was sort of nuts. If I go out to our fire escape I can reach out and touch this building practically. Our apartment smelled like smoke and burnt tar. Sexy.

In other news, today Meredith and I went for a stroll in the market and her ankle kind of did one of those snap-twists on a crack in the sidewalk. In the minutes after her injury she turned pale, broke into a sweat, and almost fainted. It was a little intense. We nabbed us a cab and zoomed home. Meredith put her ankle up on one of our many conveniently placed ottomans and took a few Tylenol. Does being a little amused make me a bad person?
To commemorate the end of this years classes, Meredith and I got a lot of candy and coke and watched Torchwood series 2 and ran about like maniacs. It was great. My favourite thing about Torchwood besides the sex/violence/Trek-like camera angles= WEE BACKPACKS AND THEIR SURPRISE APPEARANCES!

Tomorrow I'm going out with her to hand out resumes. Then on Sunday morning we are going out to Algonquin College because Laura has a ton of money left on her card that won't get refunded (and she won't spend it). So we are going to have ourselves some non-perishable food items. (And maybe a few perishable ones). Then Alysson, Laura, Meredith, and I are coming back here for Alysson's Ottawa birthday (Laura will be in Saskatchewan and Alysson will be in Picton for her real birthday). We are going to have a Doctor Who marathon and Meredith and I got Alysson something special (updates later....). Then we are going out for sushi. God I will be so poor.

New Doctor Who tomorrow. It was very silly last week. God. I just want to get ROSE BACK! ROOOOOSE!!

Firstly, the JKras interview on Conan made me laugh until I cried and will provide fodder for my giggles for years to come.

Also, I've been super busy with work and exams and term papers etc so I haven't really been updating so much. It's kind of crazy.

For my anthropology term paper I'm was observing non-verbal communication in a campus bar and I chose F&S stupidly. The first night we went was extremely busy because of the hockey game and our waitress was pretty nice. We got nachos and a couple pints and we got them quickly, she checked on us, etc. The second night the place was empty and I knew the waitress from high school so we go our stuff pretty quick but it was pretty disgusting. Tonight we went and waited for about 15 minutes and left. They didn't even bring us MENUS! I was so pissed. We just left without a word and headed for the Royal Oak which, even though screwed up my order (I asked for no bacon on my sandwhich) apologized profusely and gave me a free desert. Gah. I did get a lot of info about male bonding ritual, etc from the hockey night and awkward campus flirting. I got a lot of more normal pub interaction at Royal Oak (it was about 90% less gross. haha).

I know that every UOttawa student seems to like F&S but I find it really repulsive.

In other news, working at the hostel has been pretty good. It's weird to not work retail. I've worked a few night shifts and a few day shifts to get the hang of things. There are a few areas that creep me out and there are a few places in the hostel where I definetely feel paranoid, like I'm being watched. I also get creeped out watching the security cameras because sometimes you just see a little flash or something.

I've certainly met a lot of interesting people though.

In Sims News: I accidentally corrupted a bunch of stuff when I moved my GIANT legacy and all their offshoots to the new neighbourhood resulting in an intense lag which prevents me from playing. I had to delete my old neighbourhood (with my legacy inside it) and load a new neighbourhood. I'm trying not to think about how many hours are gone. -_-

Overheard at UofO is the funniest thing ever. Sometimes, Meredith and I find ourselves on there...

In line at the sketchy Subway on Laurier... two girls commenting on the crazy dance beats in the background.

Girl 1: "Whooaa! Disco party at Subway!
Girl 2: "And I thought this only happened at Shwarma places...!"

Girl 1: Meredith
Girl 2: Me

Today after my witchcraft class I was talking to my prof about nerdy stuff and this totally cute nerd business student in 3rd year joined us and we talked about all sorts of nerdy stuff and anthropology and I was so happy and then when cute nerdy boy and I left I was all: oo, I wonder what way he walks home. But then my heart fell because he was like: Oh no, my ride is waiting for me! And I thought it would be his girlfriend... but it was worse. His MOM came to pick him up. *sigh* Why did he have to be a geeky stereotype? Why?

I went to my parents for a few days and dropped off the internet. I probably gained 10 bloody lbs there, the way they feed me. It's like visiting Paula Dean (MORE BUTTA!)

In other news, I got the job at the Ottawa Jail Hostel. I start this weekend. Woo. The pay is better than I've ever had, which is sweeet. I should be able to pay off most of my student line of credit this summer if I just live off Daddy allowance like I am now and use my pay to make payments (credit, phone, etc).

This thursday I'm getting new sneakers- Note: I love the word "sneaker". (There is a 30% spring sale at Payless! woo! I may get two!) Sort of like the AE Easy Breezy Jogger. I'd rather have more shoe than ballet flat, but you get the idea. If I can help it, I don't want to wear flip flops all summer. They aren't good for your feet, also: ground = DIRTY. Oo, I found these, which I like better. I would get new high tops but I couldn't bring myself to wear anything but my dirty old satin print ones that I got in Tours (French old people Central).

I also want to pop over to Lush to get some new stuff. I still have a lot of Bob left (it's a kind of soap guys) but for summer I'd like a little Lemslip. If I can also find some cheap shirts at the mall, I'll pick those up. All I have for summer/spring are either really slutty tops or really stuffy formal stuff. I don't think there's any kind of dress code so I can wear casual capris and tshirts this summer. Woo. Also I'll mainly be working evenings/nights so it won't be stifling hot. Hopefully.

Meredith and I are starting Series 1 of Torchwood and it's very fun. It's not Doctor Who, but we like it. Plus we think the welsh accent is sort of cute in a dorky way (sorry Welsh people, it is!)

Now back to work. (I'm doing a presentation on Lise Meitner... she's a bombshell. BAHAHAH... google it.)

I like to think I'm more Scotch than Irish (Clan Donald bitches!) but apparently on my dad's side its more of a 50/50 split. Spirish, if you will. In any case, I hate House of Pain and this STUPID SONG THAT I HEAR EVERY 90s NIGHT!

However it is Irish, so yeah....

  • The Labyrinth
  • Muppet Treasure Island
  • The Last Unicorn
  • Mulan
  • Bambi
  • Mighty Boosh Series 1 & Radio Show (not technically a movie, I know)
  • The Lion King
  • Rock a Doodle
  • All Dogs Go To Heaven
  • Titan A.E.
  • The Land Before Time
  • The Secrets of NIMH
  • The Swan Princess
  • Beauty and the Beat
  • Enchanted

This list may need to be updated as I remember more kick ass movies.

Kat came over and we played a celebratory round of Life in her bday honour.
Tomorrow I have a job interview at the Ottawa Jail Hostel (4th Creepiest Hostel in the World).
We're going to the gym in like, 5 hours..

hen this popped up on my radar I had to read it and I loved it.

In other dumb news, Meredith and I are watching vh1s "America's Most Smartest Model" series 1. I checked wikipedia and I know who wins. I know the order of contestant elimination. I HAVE THE POWER. Now I will have to forget (like it will be hard) in order to keep the info from slipping to Meredith.

FACEBOOK:
The "compare people" application serves to be too ego-enflating for my egotistical and bombastic personality. I foresee my head being a Hindenburg of self-love. Much like Philippus Theophrastus Aureolus Bombastus von Hohenheim Paracelsus, my fate is to never know when to shut up, think I'm brilliant, be extremely hated to the point where I'm forced to live a liminal existence, and in the end get so shitfaced that I slip on some wet grass, fall down a hill, and die.

"You're friend think you are:
hardest worker
nicest
prettiest
outgoing
cooler
more adventurous
rather live with"

According to the same system I am apparently crap at science, a bad listener, and unhappy. That's not true runs away to eat pickles and cry.

FIREFLY/SERENITY:
Better Days comic cover is freaky ass. Are Kaylee and River afflicted in some way? And what the HELL is going on between Jayne and Book. I thought they just lifted weights together... I was clearly wrong.

EMBARASSMENT:
I listen to LotR audiobook to fall asleep... Now my last.fm thinks I'm a loser. Have spent the last hour playing hip music to counteract.

I learned today that I am the Explorer/Director personality type.

You are a skywalker. You love adventure, both intellectual and physical. And you greet new challenges with passion and bravery.

When you get interested in a project, you can become extremely focused on it, sometimes to the exclusion of all around you. You complete it carefully and thoroughly, often with great originality.

And because you have a lot of energy and tend to be enthusiastic about your ideas, inventions, and projects, you can be very persuasive.

You tend to like to collect things, experiences or ideas. And you are eager to make an impact on those around you, as well as the wider world.

Although you enjoy people and can be charming and humorous, you are not very interested in routine social engagements or boring people. You are comfortable being by yourself, pursuing your own interests.

People probably call you a non-conformist, an original. You like to have good conversations on important topics. People tend to admire you for your innovativeness. You make an exciting, though at times distant, companion.

What are you?
Gah, thank god it's his last. I'm half-heartedly watching the last George W. Bush state of the union address. He's talking about stem cells and he said something scientific and I can't believe he got through it. There have been a bunch of standing ovation moments and enthusiastic fist-pumping.

Occasionally everyone will do a standing ovation but the people in the front aren't aware of what's going on behind them and they'll look back, see a gazillion people standing, and then they awkwardly jump up to catch the end of the ovation.

When he entered the room he did a lot of high five, signing autographs and kissing of cheeks. He is wearing a shitload of makeup, so I'm wondering if he got some lip gloss on anyone? He kissed an old man on the cheek. Perhaps that old man wiped off a big sloppy lipglossy Bush Jr. kiss? How strange.

He hasn't screwed up a bunch of words, he even got in an IRS joke (badumdum tsssss) but he did one time say "rebubblican" instead of "republican". ("I STAND FOR THE BUBBLE PARTY!") I wonder if it was really a mistake? Like maybe he and all his frat buddies (who have been doing Spartan like war cries after every point) were like: OMG! You have to say "rebubblican" at some point!

I think the camera guys are bored because the keep zooming in on people doing sudokus and falling asleep. Cheney keeps looking out into the crowd like a principal looking for someone not paying attention in assembly. They also show Obama and Clinton sharing occasional "Bitch, Plz" moments.

Gah! I missed a HXC standing ovulation on account of watching something silly on youtube. It was something about supporting the troops I think or how great Americans are.. something like that. Oh, over 20 000 troops are "coming home".

Merbear isn't home tonight so I can watch Jon Stewart and see what he's take on all this is.

Well I'm off to find a snack. Ta ta.

P.S. Olivia is snoring.
P.S.S. I'm reading Russell's book. He's such a nutcase. I love him.

This picture pretty much sums up my weekend. (Click for big version.)
